JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis proved to be proud hosts of a top-tier hidden duals event Saturday, Oct. 29, as the Ospreys ended the day with four singles wins against SEC opponents. Kit Gulihur, Isabel Oliveira, Jasmin Makela and Kendall Nash all walked away with singles victories, with two coming against Georgia and LSU respectively.Â
Gulihur's win came against No. 101 Ania Hertel of UGA, a straight-sets sweep for the No. 43 ranked singles player. Isabel Oliveira was the next Osprey to earn a win against the perennial power of UGA. The UNF sophomore downed Anastasiia Lopata, the 10th ranked freshman in the ITA Preseason Singles ranking for the fall. Oliveira won the second set and staved off a late comeback from the Bulldogs player in the 10-point tiebreaker.Â
Nash never let up and outlasted Nikita Vishwase of LSU, winning two tiebreakers in a three-set victory. Nash came back from a 6-2 deficit in the second-set tiebreaker, winning six-straight points to erase four-straight match points in favor of Vishwase. She went on to win, 10-7, in the third set to complete the win.Â
Jasmin Makela's win also came against Vishwase. The UNF freshman led her opponent, 7-6 (7-4), 5-2, and eventually won via retirement from Vishwase.
UNF completes the Hidden Duals tomorrow at the UNF Tennis Complex.
