Gabrelcik Finishes Tied for Second Overall
VERO BEACH, Fla. - North Florida men's golf takes home its first team championship of the season with a score of 39-under 825 at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational hosted by Michigan State on Monday afternoon.
Their team score now enters the top three for best 54-hole score in program history, as it fell just one stroke shy of their score of 824 from the NCAA New Haven Regional last season. This is also the first time that the Ospreys have won a fall event since the Graeme McDowell Invitational hosted by UAB on Sept. 24, 2019.
UNF fended off a late push from Michigan State and Liberty in the final round to secure the three-stroke win back in the Sunshine State. They placed over five top-50 ranked teams, including No. 29 Notre Dame and No. 32 Cincinnati.
Nick Gabrelcik returned to form this week after carding 16-under 200 to grab a share of second overall among a 84-player field. His 54-hole tournament score set a new program record, which beat his own score of 201 from the Gator Invitational his freshman season.
