JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida cross country and track & field brings on another assistant coach to the team, as former Osprey runner Tyler Stahl will become an assistant coach for the programs.
The Land O' Lakes, Fla. native ran for the UNF cross country and track teams from 2014 to 2018. He won an ASUN team cross country championship in 2016 and finished as the ASUN individual outdoor track champion for the 1500m and 5000m races in 2018.
"I am very excited to return to UNF as an assistant coach in order to help this great program continue to succeed," said Stahl about joining the coaching staff for cross country and track.
Stahl has a very impressive resume from his days running for the Ospreys. He served as the captain for the cross country and track teams from 2016-18 and qualified for the NCAA Division I East Preliminaries in the outdoor 1500m for his final two years on the track team.
He's been selected to 10 different All-ASUN teams between cross country and track during his time in Jacksonville with four first-team selections, two second-team selections, and four third-team selections. The four first-team All-ASUN selections were for cross country in 2016 and 2017, while he was selected for outdoor 1500m and 5000m in 2018.
Stahl was just as accomplished off the track as he was off it, as he was a three-time selection for ASUN Academic Honor Roll from 2015-2018, a ASUN All-Academic team selection in 2017, and a USTFCCCA All-Academic team selection in 2017-18. He was selected for conference track athlete of the week honors multiple times in 2017 and 2018 as well.
After graduating from UNF, Stahl served as a policer officer in Jacksonville from 2018-2021. He also adds on volunteer experience with the UNF track team and the Special Olympics.
"It is great to have Tyler [Stahl] join our staff," head coach Jeff Pigg said about Stahl joining the coaching staff as an assistant. "As an athlete, he was instrumental in creating our winning culture. I know he will make some strong contributions as we move forward."
