Osprey Athletics Postpones Annual AD's Reception

JACKSONVILLE -- The AD's Reception, an annual event for North Florida Athletics kicking off the competition season, has been postponed from its originally scheduled date of Aug. 19 on the UNF Campus. Plans call for the reception to be rescheduled for a to be announced date in October or November.

The reception traditionally brings together athletic staff, UNF boosters, corporate sponsors and local media for a time of celebration in anticipation for the upcoming athletic competition season.

Statement from Athletic Director Nick Morrow
"While I wish this message was being shared in anticipation of the upcoming annual Athletic Director's Reception, I regret to announce that we have made the decision to postpone the AD's Reception scheduled for Thursday, August 19^th. Due to the continued rise in positive COVID-19 cases across our community, it is in the best interest of our student-athletes, coaches, staff, alumni and friends of the program that we postpone this event until October/November 2021. I am hopeful that we can all come back together later this Fall to celebrate a successful start to the 2021-2022 academic year while also sharing in the excitement of what is to come for the North Florida Ospreys."

"Please understand this decision was not an easy one and was made with an abundance of caution, however it was necessary as we play our part in minimizing the spread of COVID-19 within our community. The Ospreys return to action in the coming weeks as Women's and Men's Soccer are set for their season debuts in Hodges Stadium later this month and Volleyball hosts their home tournament in UNF Arena in early September. I look forward to cheering on our UNF student-athletes alongside our alumni and supporters. Stay safe and GO OSPREYS!"
