JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The University of North Florida Director of Athletics Nick Morrow is proud to announce the promotion of 12-year UNF veteran Ervin Lewis as Deputy Athletics Director.Â
Â
Lewis, who previously held the titles of Senior Associate AD of Facilities and Operations and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer, will still carry the duties entrusted in those roles to his new title as deputy athletics director.Â
Â
"I am extremely excited for and humbled by this opportunity to continue to build and promote the University of North Florida as I serve in this new role," Lewis said. "I know great things are on the horizon here at UNF and the greater Jacksonville area. I am thankful for my part in the vision and support from Nick Morrow and the university administration for this amazing opportunity."
In this role as second in command, Lewis is charged with overseeing UNF's internal operations including academics, sports performance, facilities and operations as well as event management. The Monticello, Fla., native will remain as the sport administrator for the women's basketball, men's soccer, volleyball and beach volleyball programs.
During his time at UNF, Lewis has been instrumental in augmenting UNF's national and even international presence in the sports world. North Florida's Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium routinely serves as the site for the NCAA East Prelims, and this past summer has hosted Olympic talent, runners in the American Track League and the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics.
Lewis is also the CEO of Winners vs. Champions, LLC., a consulting company aimed at educating and pushing people to become champions in their lives. He played collegiate football at Jones (Miss.) Junior College and Auburn University, possessing both his bachelor's and master's degree from Auburn.Â
The Monticello, Fla., native is married to Tonya Lewis and has two sons, Austin (18) and Trenton (13).
What They're Saying
"I couldn't be more excited about Ervin's promotion to deputy AD. Ervin is a relationship-builder and has a great reputation among our student-athletes, coaches, staff, and campus community. Ervin brings tremendous passion to building champions the right way. That passion combined with his experience will elevate UNF Athletics to new heights." -- UNF Director of Athletics Nick Morrow
"Ervin is hard working and certainly deserving of this promotion. From my experience working with him I have seen firsthand the pride he takes in promoting UNF as individuals and organizations travel from all over the country to use our athletic facilities. He is a hard-working family man who represents UNF in the best possible fashion." -- UNF Director of Police and Public Safety Chief Frank Macksey
