Women's Tennis Sweeps Florida A&M in Regular Season Finale

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The North Florida women's tennis team (18-4, 6-0 ASUN) swept Florida A&M (2-9, 2-1 MEAC) Tuesday afternoon in the regular season finale. Head coach Catherine Dunagan honored Lucia Montano, Valentina Mariotto, Constanza Gorches and Florencia Rossi following the match for Senior Day.Â
In doubles, Rossi and Sean Lodzki won by default on court three. Catherine Gulihur and Mariotto blanked Florida A&M's Adrienne Clayton and Claudia Sumaia to clinch the doubles point in the two slot. Gorches and Montano ended the full sweep 6-0 on court one.Â
Lodzki won by default on court six to start singles. Mariotto kept her momentum from doubles and swept Clayton 6-0, 6-0 on court four to stretch the Osprey's lead to 3-0.Â
Montano clinched the match for the Ospreys dominating Haleigh Porter 6-1, 6-0 in the one slot. Yardley quickly followed suit, downing Rachel Harden 6-1, 6-0 on court three.
Gorches earned UNF's next win in the two slot defeating Aylen Hubeau 6-2, 6-1. Rossi earned her first singles win of the season on court five edging Claudia Sumaia 6-4, 6-3.
The Ospreys turn to the ASUN quarterfinals as they host Stetson Friday April 16.
