Ospreys Fall to #13 FIU, Sweep Florida Memorial

MIAMI - UNF beach volleyball (10-4) went 1-1 on its first day in Miami at the Panther Beach Battle, dropping a match against host #13 FIU before sweeping Florida Memorial.

UNF vs. #13 FIU
FIU (11-4) pulled ahead 2-0 after winning pairs four and five. Carleigh Semeniuk and Lauren Galinis got UNF on the board, winning 21-8, 21-14, to defeat Emma Erteltova and Emery Pillsbury at flight three.

The Panthers clinched the match at court two. Callie Workman and Taryn Griffey pushed FIU's Robert Ribeiro and Federica Frasca to three sets before dropping a battle, 11-21, 23-21, 11-15. Ribeiro and Frasca are ranked seventh in the NCAA Pairs Rankings.

The Ospreys won 5-0 in match two, needing only 10 sets to complete the sweep. Taryn Griffey and Callie Workman along with Antonia Harrison and Dana Roskic improved to 10-4 with the wins against FMU. Lauren Galinis and Carleigh Semeniuk bumped up their season record to 10-4 with a Friday sweep.

Sophie Beckley and Carolyn Cain competed for the first time as a pair, while Leah Maloney and Chantel McMillan won their first match at the four slot as a pair this year.
