UNF Plays Charleston Twice, One Match Against Eckerd and UNA

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida beach volleyball gets another chance to play at The Coop this weekend as it hosts the UNF Spring Fling.

The Ospreys play Charleston twice, while facing Eckerd and North Alabama once. Four neutral site matches will be split between Saturday and Sunday.

All matches at The Coop are closed to the public. Admission is only available via team pass list and for a limited number of UNF students.

1) Last Time Out
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida beach volleyball (5-3) won every set in a clean sweep of North Alabama (3-3), but #14 Stetson (9-3) topped the Ospreys by the same score as UNF split a home doubleheader Thursday, March 11.

2) By the Numbers
Four pairs have won at least five matches this season … 11 different pairs have played in at least one match this season, including at the extras slot … all told UNF has a 23-17 duals record … Chantel McMillan and Maddie Norris, as well as the pair of McMillan and Angelie Rosario have won their last two matches.

3) Receiving Votes
UNF was receiving votes in the first two AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball polls, as well as the AVCA Preseason poll … North Florida has played three matches against ranked opponents.

4) Griffey and Workman Honored
UNF's top pair of Taryn Griffey and Callie Workman were named ASUN Pair of the Week March 3 … The duo went 4-0 on opening weekend, winning all but one set in four matches … it's the third time Workman has been named to the award and the second time Griffey received the honor … it's the duo's first honor together.

5) Scouting Report
Charleston: The Cougars are 3-5 and 0-2 on the road … Charleston is on a five-match losing streak … the Ospreys defeated Charleston 4-1 Saturday, Feb. 27 at The Coop … since then CofC has lost to #16 Stetson, UNCW, Coastal Carolina and #13 South Carolina … Jason Kepner leads Charleston as the head coach of the indoor and beach volleyball teams.
Eckerd: The Tritons are 2-4 and on a three-match losing streak … Eckerd picked up a 4-1 win against Warner and a 3-2 win against Jacksonville … Eckerd has dropped matches to FGCU, Tampa and Mercer … Eckerd is led by Michelle Piantadosi-Lima.
North Alabama: The Lions are 3-4 … UNA is 0-2 against Central Arkansas, earning wins against Huntingdon and Hendrix … North Alabama's roster consists of eight freshmen and four sophomores … UNA fell to #14 Stetson and UNF Thursday, March 11.
