HOW IT HAPPENED
- North Florida dominated the run of play in the first half holding an 8-0 advantage in shots but were unable to find the net on their attempts
- Mikayla Bond had the Ospreys first solid opportunity in the 13th minute when a free kick service from Ari Munoz found her in the box but her shot attempt was snuffed out by the JU goalkeeper
- Kendra Hoffman and Thais Reiss both created chances in the middle of the opening period but saw their shots sail wide of the frame
- Leah Ferlin nearly netted the first score for UNF when she headed the ball off a corner kick try that glanced off the crossbar in the 36th minute
- After a quiet 10 minutes at the start of the second half, North Florida finally found the back of the net, when Reiss ripped a left-footed shot into the upper right corner from the top the box for the first goal of the game and season
- Ten minutes later, Hoffman perfectly crossed a ball from the right flank into the center of the box and found a waiting Emma Voigt who slipped the ball past the keeper to double the Osprey lead
- In the 71st minute, Bond lined up a free kick from outside the box and laced her shot inside the left post to earning her first collegiate goal
- Reiss added her second score of the match converting on a penalty kick chance in the 81st minute | Carmen Oliveira earned the PK try after getting taken down in the box by a JU defender

QUICK KICKS
- Reiss was the Osprey's leading scorer a year ago finishing with 12 goals
- North Florida had 25 players earn playing time in the match
- UNF tallied 15 shots on the night including 9 shots on goal while the defense held the Dolphins without a shot
- The win marked the Ospreys fourth straight over their crosstown rivals

FAULCONER TALES
"It was great to just get back on the field and compete again. I thought we were sluggish in the first half and JU did a good job with their defensive organization to make clean looks on goal hard to come by. We picked up the tempo in the second half and did a lot of good things that moving forward we can build on. We have some time before our next match, so that will give us an opportunity to fine tune some more. Overall, it's always nice to start the season 1-0."
- Head coach Eric Faulconer
