TAMPA, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis (3-4) dropped the decision to South Florida (4-5) in a tight match, 4-3, Wednesday afternoon.

In doubles, Lucia Montano and Constanza Gorches downed Grace Schumacher and Margriet Timmermans on court two, 6-3.

Valentina Mariotto and Kendall Nash clinched the doubles point for the Ospreys with a win in the three slot, defeating Grace Eland and Laura Pellicer. Catherine Gulihur and Ana Paula Melilo went unfinished on court one, 4-4.

The Bulls took the lead in singles, sweeping Gulihur in the two slot, 6-4, 6-1, and Mariotto, 6-1, 6-2 on court five.

Montano evened the score, 2-2, in the one slot, downing Amelie Boy, 6-1, 7-6 (7-2). South Florida quickly answered back as the Bull's Timmermans swept Summer Yardley, 6-4, 6-2, on court six.

Gorches picked up a 7-5, 6-2, win in the four slot to even the score once again. Melilo went to the third set in her match on court three after losing the first set 4-6, and coming back in the second set, 6-3. Melilo lost the third set, 4-6, splitting the series, 1-1, with USF this season.

The Ospreys are on the road for the third straight weekend with matches in South Carolina at Wofford and Presbyterian.
