GAINESVILLE, Fla. - No. 7/1 Florida (3-2) was lifted by a pair of Jud Fabian home runs as UNF (1-4) fell Wednesday night in Gainesville, 8-3.Â
Down 5-0 in the sixth, UNF got within two after a Robbie Scott two-out three-run double. UF pitchers got a lift from a pair of outfield assists at home plate to hold off UNF late.
It was North Florida's fifth consecutive game against a ranked opponent to start the year, and second series in a row with a Power Five team.

Behind the Line Score
- It was a pitcher's duel early as starters Max McKinley and Chase Centala cruised through the first few frames.
- Jud Fabian hit a solo home run to left as UF broke the stalemate in the third.
- UF went ahead, 5-0, in the fifth. Three singles, a sac fly and Fabian three-run homer to left gave the Gators a four-run fifth.
- Scott cleared the bases with a three-RBI double to right center, cutting the deficit to 5-3 in the sixth. Justin Holmes singled to center, but Scott was retired at the plate.
- Tanner Clark was also retired at the plate two innings earlier as he tried to score on a Cade Westbrook single.
- Three consecutive infield singles, an RBI walk by Fabian and Nathan Hickey sac fly made it 7-3 after six.
- Josh Rivera walked, moved to third on a single to left center and scored on a Kendrick Calilao sac fly, giving UF an 8-3 lead in the eighth.
