
UNF Baseball Places Five on ASUN All-Decade Squad

ATLANTA - North Florida Baseball has seen great talent come through its program over the years, and today it was recognized by the ASUN Conference with the league's announcement of the ASUN All-Decade Team.Â
Tabbed to the list were former Ospreys: Brad Deppermann, Donnie Dewees, Frank German, Tanner Murphy and Corbin Olmstead.Â
Criteria for selection to the team are as follows:
All told, 11 schools had recipients honored on the all-decade team. North Florida was joined by Kennesaw State with five selections, tied-for-second among current and former ASUN schools.
Brad Deppermann (2015-19) | RHP | Palm Harbor, Fla.
Brad Deppermann put up some of the best numbers by any pitcher in UNF's Division I days. The 6-0 hard-throwing righty was a seventh round selection by the Chicago Cubs in the 2019 MLB June Draft, becoming the fourth-highest draft pick among pitchers in program history.
Deppermann was the first pitcher in UNF history to be named ASUN Pitcher of the Year, doing so in 2019. The East Lake High School graduate achieved this after going 6-5 with a 2.46 ERA, 108 strikeouts and a .217 opponents' batting average in 95 frames of work. Deppermann became the UNF DI record holder in the following categories:

Donnie Dewees (2013-15) | OF | Crystal River, Fla.
Donnie Dewees racked up quite the list of awards in three seasons in the Navy and Gray, headlined by national and conference awards. The left-handed hitting outfielder was named the 2015 ASUN Player of the Year before being picked by the Chicago Cubs in the 2nd round of the MLB June Draft.Â
That same season he finished fifth in the voting for the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award, along with being a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy. In addition to hitting 18 homers as a junior, Dewees led the nation in runs, runs per game, hits, slugging percentage and total bases. The Crystal River, Fla., saw just 12 games as a sophomore due to injury, although as a freshman he picked up Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and second team honors to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Freshman All-American squad. Dewees finished his career with a .382 average, .632 slugging percentage and 28 stolen bags in 32 attempts.
Frank German (2016-18) | RHP | Tampa, Fla.
A two-time All-ASUN Conference First Team selection, German was dominant on the mound in three seasons for the Ospreys. As a senior he spun an 8-3 record with a 1.58 ERA, collecting 108 strikeouts while walking just 14. He capped off his year with a 10 punchout complete game performance against Kennesaw State in the ASUN Championship en route to Golden Spikes Award semifinalist honors.
The Tampa native was picked up by the New York Yankees in the 4th round of the 2018 MLB June Draft. He finished the 2019 season at Advanced A Tampa.
Tanner Murphy (2017-19) | OF | St. Augustine, Fla.
From nearby St. Augustine, Fla., Tanner Murphy became the first North Florida player to become ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Murphy went on to be drafted in the 18th round of the June MLB Draft by the New York Mets.
Murphy hit .311, scoring 102 runs while hitting 17 home runs and driving in 94. Twice he was an All-ASUN First Team pick. In 2019 he set the UNF DI career stolen base record, three days after setting the UNF single game walks record with five during a 14-8 win against FAMU.
Corbin Olmstead (2013-16) | RHP / IF | Tampa, Fla.
Corbin Olmstead goes down as one of the best two-way players in UNF history. Three times he was named a first team all-conference pick, and as a freshman he picked up all-conference, Louisville Slugger, Baseball America, NCBWA and Perfect Game Freshman All-American selections.
His pitching and hitting prowess was recognized in 2016 when he was named a John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Watch List honoree. During that season he started all but one game at designated hitter while appearing in 21 games as a reliever.
The numbers were staggering for the Tampa, Fla., native. Olmstead hit .335 with 154 runs, 257 hits, 35 home runs, 153 RBI and 409 total bases. On the mound he spun a 3.18 ERA over 81 outings, collecting 21 saves and 166 strikeouts.

- Individuals that obtained one of the following:
- Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, three all-conference selections, two first team all-conference selections or multiple superlative awards.

- Tourney MVP, Freshman/Defensive/Scholar-Athlete of the Year
