
OSPREY TODAY: Men's Golf Reaches NCAA DI Championship for First Time

The Ospreys made their debut at the NCAA DI Championship tournament on this day in 2000, teeing off on the Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Ala.In just the third season as an NCAA Division I program, North Florida advanced to the championship round of the NCAA Tournament after finishing second at the NCAA East Regional. It marked the program's for the first time advancing to Nationals after reaching NCAA Regional play in two of the first three seasons.Â
The appearance in the NCAA Championship was the first in what has now grown to six trips to nationals. Prior to moving up to Division I, UNF reached the NCAA DII Championship four times and also won the NAIA National Championship in 1993.
North Florida missed the cut after 36 holes of play, having carded a two-round total of 14-over 590. Eric Labitzke was the top performer firing rounds of 71-74 for a 1-over 145.
