JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The North Florida track and field teams open the indoor season at the South Carolina Challenge, Friday in Columbia, S.C.

WHO'S BACK
For the men, 2019 ASUN Most Outstanding Freshman Performer and first-team All-ASUN high jumper Jaasiel Torres returns for his sophomore season. Torres is accompanied by 2019 Scholar-Athlete of the Year George Escobar who was also second-team All-ASUN in the 800m. Timothy Doyle, 2019 All-ASUN third team for the mile, will participate in the mile and 3000m this weekend.
Camryn Cooney, 2019 All-ASUN third team in the 5000m, returns for the women. She will also participate in the mile and 3000m.
LAST SEASON OPENER
Last season the Ospreys opened the indoor track and field season at the Gamecock Inaugural. On the field, Jaaisel Torres won the open high jump in the first meet of his career with a leap of 2.08m (6' 9 ¾"). Kaley Petrosky tied for second in her collegiate debut with a mark of 1.57m (5' 1 ¾") in the high jump.
On the track, George Escobar set a new school record with a 48.47 in the 400m. Jade Sullivan opened the season in third with a personal best in the 400m, covering the track in 57.91. Lydia van Dijk also recorded a personal best placing third in the 3000m with a time of 10:06.96.
