
Softball Travels to UCF, Stetson to Wrap Regular Season

JACKSONVILLE - North Florida softball closes out the non-conference slate against UCF on Wednesday before traveling to Stetson to wrap ASUN play and vie for a spot in the upcoming ASUNÂ Tournament. The three-game series against the Hatters begins on Friday.

TEAM NOTES
- Heading into the final week of regular season play, UNF is looking to go out with a bang. The Ospreys must win two games at Stetson in order to make the ASUN postseason.
- The game against UCF was originally scheduled for April 17, but moved due to a scheduling conflict. UNF also went to UCF to start the year, but lost two games due to weather.
- Head Coach Marcie Hickey has now had 20 or more wins in all of her 11 seasons. She is currently three wins away from 300 at UNF.
- Senior Megan Woodson is currently on a four-game hit streak and led the Ospreys at the dish against JU. She hit .429 with a double, two walks and three stolen bases.
- Senior Navia Penrod is hitting .333 against the Hatters, going 10-for-30 over nine games. She has two RBI and two walks with eight stolen bases. Classmate Dominica Cocuzza owns four RBI against the Hatters including two last season over the three game series.
- Last season against the Hatters, Woodson went 5-for-10 with two doubles and two RBI to hit well above her season average.
RECORD WATCH
- Penrod currently sits in sixth in the ASUN record book with a .394 career average. She is also tied for 10th with 264 hits and has a chance to move up as just nine hits separate 10th and fifth.Â
- Senior Sydney Matzko broke into the top 10 list for strikeouts. She now owns 234 in her two year career. She is just eight away from getting 100 or more for the second straight season.
SERIES HISTORY
- UCF owns a 12-5 record against the Ospreys and have won the last five meetings.Â
- North Florida last won in 2013 at UCF, 2-0.
- The Ospreys are 19-15 all-time against Stetson, winning the last two meetings against the Hatters (6-5, 4-0) in Jacksonville. UNF also grabbed two wins in 2017 when it played in DeLand.Â
- UNF is 9-9 all-time at Patricia Wilson Field.

- Both Alea White and Breanna Vasquez have sub 1.75 ERAs to lead the pitching staff. White owns a 21-13 record in her 35 appearances with a 1.66 ERA. She has fanned 154 batters in 198.2 IP.
- Vasquez sits with a 1.71 ERA and has 103 strikeouts in 131.1 IP. She is 9-7 in 24 appearances.
STETSON (16-28, 5-12 ASUN)
- Stetson is coming off of a 1-2 weekend against FGCU. The win on Sunday snapped a six-game skid for the Hatters. They will also be looking for a spot in the postseason, hoping to grab two from UNF.
- Elizabeth Jackson leads the team with a .343 average on a team-best 48 hits. Ashly Smith has knocked in 25 RBI thanks to her team-high 10 doubles.Â
- On the base paths, Riley Russell is tough to stop as she has 26 stolen bases and has reached 16 times by walks.
- In the circle, Tori Perkins splits time with Jaime Tino and Curstin Taylor. Perkins owns a 2.34 ERA with 61 strikeouts in 176.1 innings pitch. She owns a 13-14 record on the year in 31 appearances.
- Tino has seen time in 18 games, finishing five with a 3-12 mark. She has a 4.91 ERA with 37 strikeouts.

With two wins against Stetson, UNF earns a spot in the ASUN Tournament beginning Wednesday, May 8.
