STARTING BLOCK
On Saturday's final day of competition at the Pepsi Florida Relays, the North Florida men's track squad saw a school record performance in the 4x800m relay and a PR for freshman high jumper Jaasiel Torres.

AROUND THE TRACK
- In the 4x800m relay, the Osprey quartet of George Escobar, Jared Vazquez, Sem Sultanov and Chris Robin posted school record time of 7:30 | Time bested the previous record set in 2017 by six seconds | Sultanov and Robin were both members of the previous record setting group
- The DMR foursome of Timothy Doyle, George Escobar, Chris Robin and Noah Perkins earned a fourth-place finish
- UNF made its debut in the Sprint Medley Relay (SMR) clocking a time of 3:35 by the group of Michael Alexander, Spencer Shaw, Jared Hayes and Andrew Stivers
FROM THE FIELD
- Freshman Jaasiel Torres finished tied for fifth following an outdoor PR mark of 2.06m (6-09.00)
UP NEXT:
North Florida will host the second event of the season at Hodges Stadium on Friday, Apr. 5.
COACH PIGG SAYS:
"We had a great day with the 4x800 relays. The guys ran a great race to break the school record. Race was really exciting. The kids did a great job lining up with some really good programs and delivering really good individual performances to come together for a great relay mark. That is an exciting accomplishment. Jaasiel had a really nice day as well. Big day for us in the relays and I'm proud of our group. We are looking forward to getting back at it in the North Florida Invitational on Friday. Need to get recovered from an exhausting, big three-day meet."
