
Two Program Records Surpassed For Track And Field To Close Out UCF Knights Invite

ORLANDO, Fla. – A pair of program records were eclipsed for North Florida Track and Field to conclude competition at the UCF Knights Invite at UCF Track and Field Complex on Saturday.Â
Junior Rey Hernandez surpassed his own program record with a prelim time of 14.17 in the Men's 110m Hurdles. Hernandez then teamed up with senior Jonathan Bailey, sophomore Matthew Groves and sophomore William Owens to shatter the Men's 4x100m Relay program record with a second-place time of 40.08.Â

Junior Gabby Johnson, junior Camryn Batt, junior Navia Casa and freshman Ivory Edgecomb clocked a time of 46.41 in the Women's 4x100m Relay – only 0.02 seconds off the program-record time.Â

Sophomore Shamar Henry posted a personal-best and second-place time of 1:51.22 to lead five Ospreys in the top-10 of the Men's 800m. In addition to Henry, graduate student Aiden Arnold, sophomore Rashad Hemissi, senior Ryan Douihech and sophomore Mason Spearin clocked top-10 times.Â

Junior Avaunt Ortiz turned in a fourth-place time of 47.02 and sophomore Matthew Groves notched a ninth-place time of 48.09 in the Men's 400m. Junior Tyshone Bolden and junior Kaleb Johnson each cleared a bar of 2.01m to earn top-10 placements in the Men's High Jump.Â

North Florida heads to Gainesville, Fla. to compete in the Florida Relays at Florida's James G. Pressly Stadium on Friday and Saturday, April 3-4.Â
