New Foe on Tap for Softball's Opening ASUN Weekend

JACKSONVILLE - North Florida softball opens up ASUN play against a new foe in North Alabama for a three-game series beginning on Saturday. A doubleheader on Saturday begins at 3 p.m. EST, while Sunday's single game is scheduled for 2 p.m.Â

North Florida Ospreys
- In the midweek game, UNF fell to No. 3/4 Florida State, 9-1, to sit at 16-9 on the year. The loss snapped its eight-game win streak.
- Senior Megan Woodson had a stellar outing at FSU, going 3-for-3 with an RBI.
- Despite not recording a hit against the Seminoles, senior Dominica Cocuzza maintains a .493 average.
- North Florida is 10-16 under head coach Marcie Higgs in ASUN openers.

- Matzko has picked up two saves so far this season, while Morgan Blourne and Morgan Clausen each own one.

- After recording seven hits last week, senior Navia Penrod is just four swings short of holding the UNF career record. She is behind Kelly Lee (1998-2001) who owns 246 hits.
- Classmate Dominica Cocuzza is chasing a few records of her own including doubles and RBI. She needs nine doubles to tie the school record also held by Lee. Currently sitting at 114 RBI, Cocuzza is 29 behind Gwen Williams (2005-08) who has 143 for her career. Cocuzza currently has 25 on the season.

- This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
- UNA is led by Veronica Westfall at the plate with a .383 average, while Meleah Hargett tops the team with 24 hits.
- Harley Stokes brings in the runs with a team-high 16 RBI aided by seven home runs.
