UNF Tops CSU - Bakersfield and Westcliff

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - UNF (11-7) made the most of its inaugural trip to California, sweeping the day with a 3-2 win against Cal State Bakersfield (4-4) followed by a 5-0 shutout of Westcliff Tuesday, March 19, in Bakersfield.

The Ospreys won at the first, third and fourth spots to clinch the match against the host Roadrunners.
UNF's two losses came in three-set battles.

UNF 5, Westcliff 0

The Ospreys mixed up their lineup in the second match, taking each in straight sets. Jessi Freeman and Antonia Harrison teamed up at the second spot.
Carleigh Semeniuk and Marisa Rogers jumped from the extras pair to win UNF a point at the five spot.

Wright's Words
"We had a nice win against CSUB. Beach volleyball has a lot of variables to consider. I thought we adapted to the style of play and those different variables. It was a nice clean sweep against Westcliff. We really tried to focus on being efficient on our side of the net, and we were." -- Head coach Kristen Wright.

A five-match weekend is due up for the Ospreys in Baton Rouge. UNF will open the Tiger Classic against Spring Hill and No. 4/4 LSU Friday, March 22.

This is UNF's first trip to California.
