Track & Field Honoring Seniors at Regular Season Finale Meet on Friday

Starting Block: The North Florida Track & Field teams will wrap up their regular season meet schedule on Friday by hosting the North Florida Invite at Hodges Stadium. Field events are slated to begin at 10 a.m. with running events set to start at 5:30 p.m.

Meet Notes:
- UNF will honor its senior track athletes with a special presentation at 8 p.m. on the track
- Injured Osprey runner Manny Velasquez will make his return to the track at 8:50 p.m., running his first lap around the track since being hit by a truck in 2017
- North Florida athletes will be competing in their primary and secondary events
- The 1500m races will include invitational flights in the evening
- This marks the final regular season meet for the Ospreys as UNF next turns its attention to hosting the ASUN Outdoor Championships on May 11-12 at Hodges Stadium

Coach Jeff Pigg Comments:
"We are going to close out the regular season with some kids running in their primary event and chasing NCAA East Region Qualifying marks. In some other cases, such as senior Hallie Grimes she will run her secondary event the 800 instead of her specialty the 400 where she is the ASUN leader. Our field event athletes are coming off of a great meet at Georgia Tech and it will be fun to see Bobby Harris back in action in his second meet of the year looking to strengthen his East Regional qualifying mark in the high jump. Louisa Washburn will again be vaulting looking to back up two very strong meets as well. Senior Alyssa Young will also look to improve on her season best, a mark that has her in the hunt for a regional birth. Senior Tyler Stahl will be gunning for a PR in the invitational 1500, where teammate Nick Morken looks to race with him to assure a fast pace. The Invitational Steeplechase will also have a similar scenario as Fynn Timm attempts to improve on his 2018 time and move up his 44th East Regional l ranking along with his teammate Leo Queyrou. The Women's Invitational 1500m should have a fast pace set with senior Claudia Jalon racing to improve her school record time of 4:21."
