Ospreys Down Eagles To Advance In ASUN Championship

DeLand, Fla. - The North Florida beach volleyball team dominated from start to finish en route to a 4-1 victory over No. 2 FGCU in the opening round of the ASUN Championship at Cooper Beach Volleyball Courts on Saturday. With the win, the Ospreys advance to Sunday morning where they will face the host Hatters at 9 a.m.Â

- UNF got out to a quick start as both the No. 4 and 5 picked up victories which included sophomore Madilyn McCarty and junior Nicole DeBolt coming back from a set down to win the match.
- Mallory Waggoner and Casey Justice paired at the No. 5 have now won each of their last three matches against the Eagles which spans over the last week of play.
- In the No. 2 position, Taryn Griffey and Chaney Howard battled back in the second set as the duo clinched the match for the Ospreys with a straight set win.Â
- Howard moved to 56 career wins for the Ospreys and now sits in a tie for second in program history and four behind teammate Courtney Miller for the all-time record in school history.
- Senior Carina Hoff and junior Courtney Miller, paired at the No. 1 position, picked up a three-set comeback win to give the Ospreys their 4-1 victory after FGCU held on at the No. 3 position.Â
