Softball Heads to Louisiana Classics

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida softball travels to Lafayette to battle in the 32nd Annual Louisiana Classics beginning on Friday.

North Florida paces the ASUN with 66 punchouts with junior Sydney Matzko picking up 36 as she is tied for second in the league.
Matzko is tied for the league lead with four complete games on the season.
Junior Navia Penrod leads the Ospreys with a .474 average, good enough for fourth place in the ASUN. Penrod has three doubles and a team-high five stolen bases.
Freshman Taylor Scott enters the weekend on a team-best six game hit streak and is hitting at a .318 clip on the year.

Southeastern Louisiana

The Lions enter the weekend with a 7-2 record after they dropped a 3-2 decision to Mississippi State on Tuesday night.
Mahalia Gibson tops Southeastern with a .448 average with a double, triple and a team best three home runs. She leads the Southland and is 11th in the nation with 16 RBI.
As a team the Lions sit 32nd in the nation with a 1.60 ERA as Rachel Hayes is 2-1 with a 1.57 ERA in five starts.

Louisiana

The Ragin' Cajuns come into play with a 7-2 record as they got a 4-3 win in 11 innings over No. 2 Florida the last time out.
Alissa Dalton leads Louisiana with a .455 average as she has a home run and team-high 10 RBI.
In the circle, the Cajuns are led by Kylee Jo Trahan with a 3-1 record and a 1.07 ERA. She's picked up a pair of complete games as well as a save.

Memphis

Memphis owns a 4-4 mark after it picked up a win in the Northwestern State tournament last weekend.
Baylee Smith paces the Tigers hitting .429 on the year, while Regan Hadley is batting .381 with a pair of triples and seven runs batted in.
On the rubber, Molly Smith leads the way with a 2-1 record and a 0.58 ERA. Smith has 33 strikeouts and only allowed two earned runs in 24.1 innings pitched.
The Ospreys defeated the Tigers the last time the two teams met in February of 2014 with a 2-1 victory in the Troy Invitational.

UMBC

The Retrievers enter the weekend at 1-4 with their lone win coming against ECU their last time out.
UMBC is led at the dish by Maddie Daigneau as she is hitting .500 with a double and a triple.
Julia Keffler is hitting at a .308 clip on the young season.

LOOKING AHEAD
North Florida comes back to Jacksonville for the Courtyard Marriott Osprey Classic. UNF faces off with Middle Tennessee, Presbyterian, Campbell and Iowa State. The Ospreys host Presbyterian at 3:30 p.m. before taking on the Blue Raiders at 6 p.m.
