Ospreys Welcome In Hofstra & McNeese For Midweek Contests

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida Softball continues its home stand with a pair of midweek contests against Hofstra on Tuesday and McNeese State on Wednesday. Both games will be played at the Debbie & Fred Pruitt Softball Complex on Jacksonville University's campus.

- Freshman Taylor Scott led the Ospreys last weekend hitting .417 as she picked up a hit in all four games. Scott has reached base safely in five of the 10 games so far this season.
- Junior Navia Penrod tops the team with a .469 average good enough for fifth place in the ASUN. Penrod has a pair of doubles and a team-high four stolen bases.
- Classmate Dominica Cocuzza with her six doubles this season, leads the ASUN. Cocuzza's doubles also rank second nationally.
- Junior Sydney Matzko is tied for the league lead with four complete games and a team-best 1.35 ERA. The Ospreys have a 1.78 ERA overall.
- North Florida paces the ASUN with 22 sacrifices with junior Megan Woodson owning seven.
OPPONENT NOTES
Hofstra
- The Pride enter Tuesday's matchup with a 7-3 record as they face UCF on Monday afternoon before traveling to Jacksonville.
- Brittany Allocca leads Hofstra with a .429 average as she has picked up three doubles and a home run, while knocking in a team best nine runs.
- In the circle, Sarah Cornell is 5-2 with a 1.40 ERA and six complete games. Cornell leads the Pride with 58 strikeouts as she ranks fourth in the nation in punchouts.
- UNF and Hofstra meet on Tuesday for the first time in program history.
McNeese State
- McNeese State enters the week with a 6-3 record. The Cowgirls face Florida State on Tuesday prior to Wednesday.
- The Cowgirls are currently ranked No. 24 in the February 13Â USA Today/NFCA Coaches poll.
- Justyce McClain leads the Cowgirls hitting at a .517 clip with a team best seven stolen bases.
