2018 Sees UNF Add Two More MLB Draft Picks, Dewees and Weeks Knock on MLB Door
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida Baseball proved to have another fruitful yield of professional talent in the 2018 season. The 47th and 48th MLB draft picks to come out of UNF were had last June, a pair of Ospreys advanced to the Triple-A level and one Texas League Offensive Player of the Week laurel was garnered over the last season of baseball.

Bryan Baker (11th Round, 2016 - COL)
- Finished the season with the Dunedin Blue Jays of Advanced-A ball.
- Was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays August 14 as part of the Seunghwan Oh trade that sent the right-hander to Colorado. Oh later was an integral part in Colorado's 2-1 win at the Chicago Cubs in the Wild Card tiebreaker.

- Received 222 at-bats with the Storm Chasers, notching 31 multi-hit games, finishing the season with a .394 average over his last ten games.
Austin Drury (34th Round, 2018 - LAD)
- Became the 48th player drafted out of UNF after posting 16 career victories with the Ospreys.
- Received his first-career professional appearance July 2 with the Ogden Raptors, recording 0.2 scoreless frames.
- Assigned to Low-A Great Lakes where he allowed only one run in 10 appearances.
- Posted an anemic 1.21 ERA, going 4-1 with two saves and 28 strikeouts to only six free passes.
Frank German (4th Round, 2018 - NYY)
- The Golden Spikes Award semifinalist turned an ASUN best 1.58 ERA in the 2018 campaign en route to becoming the third-highest draft pick in UNF history. He was also the highest draft pick amongst right-handed pitchers in UNF history.
- German was initially assigned to the Gulf Coast League Yankees West before joining the Staten Island Yankees June 26.
- The righty had no problem striking out batters, fanning 41 in 30.1 innings of work while allowing just six walks.
- He had seven punchouts in 3.0 innings against the Lowell Spinners August 20.
Yahir Gurrola (27th Round, 2017 - PHI)
- Gurrola saw action in 25 games for the Lakewood BlueClaws after being assigned to the South Atlantic League team from the Williamsport Crosscutters April 12. He was later released by the BlueClaws May 30.
Tyler Marincov (Eighth Round, 2013 - OAK)
- The outfielder spent his second season exclusively at the Double-A level with the Midland Rockhounds.
- Marincov hit .225 (73-for-325) with 14 home runs and 46 RBI for the Texas League squad before finishing the season on the seven-day disabled list.
Keith Skinner (Seventh Round, 2014 - NYY)
- Started the year with the Gulf Coast League Yankees West at the Rookie level and finished with the Gulf Coast League Yankees East of Rookie League.
- Advanced as high as the Florida State League of Advanced-A, playing in 27 games with with the Tampa Tarpons.
Drew Weeks (Seventh Round, 2014 - COL)
- Weeks ascended all the way to Triple-A level after his assignment to the Albuquerque Isotopes from the Hartford Yard Goats March 29.
- Weeks spent 49 games in the Pacific Coast League, clubbing eight home runs and 28 RBI with a .267 batting average.
- He would finish up the season at Double-A Hartford, playing in 31 games for the Yard Goats.
