- Scott nearly doubled the lead in the 40th minute after his attempt ricocheted off the left post to keep the UNF advantage at one goal.
- In the final minute of the first half, a diving save from JU's keeper kept Nicholson's header from extending the Osprey lead.
- Scott converted on his second opportunity at doubling the UNF lead, this time from 25 yards out on a free kick.
- JU's Jose Manzo nearly trimmed the deficit in half in the 69th minute when his shot hit the crossbar.
- In the 74th minute, Jake Hawker weaved through a pair of JU defenders and flashed his footwork before bending a shot from the top of the box that missed just wide of the goal.
- JU cut the UNF lead down to one after Bryson Pink found the back of the net in the 86th minute.
Thoughts From the Top
"We decided to come out with a different attack tonight and I give credit to our staff and the players for executing. We came out in a 3-5-2 and put
Shane Nicholson up top to apply some pressure and boost the energy at home, and I thought we did that well.
Collin Scott came in after
Torian Went's injury and scored. His goal I think changed the game and he played great tonight with almost having the hat trick. Our pressure caused problems for JU and we were able to create a lot of chances. We had some good looks at goal tonight, but I would have liked to have more goals. With Mikey out, it shows the fortitude of the team. Senior
Ivan Castro stepped up and played very consistent for us tonight, it's great when you can insert a senior leader into the lineup when we have a man out." – head coach
