Cedeno Nets First Collegiate Goal in Win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore Lorena Cedeno netted her first collegiate goal as she lifted North Florida women's soccer past FIU, 1-0, on Friday evening at Hodges Stadium to push the Ospreys to 4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opening 45 minutes, neither team had many chances to score a goal.Â
- North Florida's best chance came in the eighth minute of the frame when senior Kendall Pollock sent a header toward the net off a corner kick that was knocked away by FIU.
- The first half saw a 4-2 edge for North Florida in shots.
- In the second frame, the Ospreys stepped on the gas and had 11 shots.
- Finally in the 77th minute, the shots paid off as Cedeno dribbled through the Panthers' defense and sailed a shot into the lower right side of the net.
- North Florida limited FIU to just four shots as majority of the second half was played on the Panthers' side of the field.

"Just a really great effort from our team today. I am really proud of them. The first half was a little sluggish and we had to make a few adjustments at halftime and those paid off. Our girls came out in the second half and rose to the occasion. It was great for Lorena to get her first collegiate goal in great fashion. I am really proud of the effort these girls are putting in every single game and they keep rising to the challenge. They earned this today and now we have to rest up and get ready for Sunday."
