Track & Field Distance Runners Post Strong Showing at Georgia Tech Invite

The Short Story:Â The North Florida Track & Field team saw its distance crew collect a pair of event titles along with several personal records on Friday night at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

THE FINISH LINE
- In the women's 3000m steeplechase, seniors Kaitlin King (11:11) and Mary Kate Thyfault (11:26) both raced PRs en route to finishing second and sixth, respectively. King improved her personal best by 12 seconds, while Thyfault trimmed 13 seconds off her previous best mark.
- Sophomore Fynn Timm claimed the event title in the men's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 8:59. Senior Bradley Langenberg earned a sixth place showing after shaving 12 seconds off his PR time with a clocking of 9:24.
- Junior Tyler Stahl finished third in the 1500m running a near PR time of 3:48
- Junior Eden Meyer continued her stellar season earning the 5000m title in a time of 16:57, over 20 seconds faster than the rest of the field. Grace Meyer finished third in a PR of 17:21, which was an improvement of 47 seconds on her previous career best
- Senior Brad Hort tallied a 5th place showing in the 5000m to close the day running a time of 14:48

- The UNF Track & Field team did not compete in any field events at this meet
UP NEXT:
North Florida will take spring semester exams this week before returning to action next Friday (Apr. 28) at the Tom Jones Memorial meet in Gainesville, Fla.
