SAY WHAT...
"We are looking forward to some great distance races Friday night under the lights in downtown Atlanta at the Georgia Tech Invitational. This meet has the distance races set up to run later in the evening when winds and temperatures should be low and good for distance races. The fields are strong and it will be a good opportunity for our distance runners to participate in some competitive races. Over the past few years, we have traveled to Southern California for the Mt SAC relays but with finals looming that trip is somewhat demanding. We felt it was better to race closer to home and we know Georgia Tech provides us a good opportunity. Grace and Eden Meyer will run the 5000m while Kaitlin King, Mary Kate Thyfault and Audrey Carpenter are set to run the 3000 Steeple Chase. For the men, Tyler Stahl looks to improve his ASUN leading 1500m mark and Fynn Timm hopes to lower his league best time in the 3000m steeplechase. Both Tyler and Fynn are on the cusp of qualifying for the NCAA Regional meet and it will be fun to see them in competitive environments that could yield NCAA East Regional Qualifiers. Bradley Langenberg is coming off of an injury and looks to improve on his steeplechase time as well.  Brad Hort is racing the 5000m with hopes of bettering his PR time. Â
The rest of the team is headed to Columbia for what should be an exciting meet at South Carolina's new facility, which hosts the SEC Championships in a few weeks. Hallie Grimes continues to make improvements following her return from an indoor injury. Tianna Hearns' times have steadily lowered and it will be great for her to compete in some very strong hurdle fields. The women and men's 800m groups have run well this Spring and this will be another great opportunity to put up some good marks as we head into finals week. Desmond Robb enters the weekend running very well as he closes in on the final few races of his UNF career. High jumper Alyssa Young, an East Regional qualifier in 2016, is having another good season and she would like to clear a bar just a couple centimeters higher to cement her spot at the East Regional Championships again this year. Shelton McLean is so close to clearing a bar that will guarantee him a spot at the East Regional in the Pole Vault so every competition is very exciting for him as well." -- Head coach Jeff Pigg
