The Short Story:Â The North Florida women's track and field team opened the outdoor schedule Saturday in the UCF Black & Gold Challenge. Alyssa Young earned the high jump championship to lead the field performances while the track performances were led by several solid debuts.Â

THE FINISH LINE
- Tianna Hearn earned a runner-up finish in the 400m hurdles after running a time of 1:02.76 and also had a sixth-place finish in the 100m hurdles (14.68)
- Freshman Brittany Lang made her collegiate debut in the 1500m, finishing third at 4:42.13, just ahead of senior teammate Morgan Rodriguez in fourth (4:42.78)
- Audrey Carpenter opened with a solid race in the 3000m steeplechase
- Vanessa Philbert and freshman Skye Zeller both notched Top 10 finishes in the 800m, with Zeller debuting in a time of 2:14
ON THE FIELD
- Junior Alyssa Young earned the event title in the high jump posting a near PR with a jump of 1.73m (5-08.00)
- Freshman Louisa Washburn claimed a third-place finish in her outdoor collegiate debut in the pole vault with a mark of 3.55m (11-07.75)

"We competed very well. The last couple of weeks we worked on recovery from the indoor season and went back to work. This meet was a good start to getting back into the routine of racing. They were a little tired from the workload of the past couple weeks. The performances provide us great optimism as we we look forward to the upcoming meets on the schedule." -- Head coach Jeff Pigg
