Women's Tennis Preps for Bedford Cup

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida women's tennis continues its fall schedule with a trip south to compete in the Bedford Cup against nine other Division I schools in Florida beginning on Friday.

SUNSHINE STATE SCHOOLS
All but two of the Florida Division I schools will be participating in the event - Betune Cookman, FAU, FGCU, FIU, Florida, Miami, Stetson, UCF and USF will all take part in the event. Florida A&M and Florida State are sitting this one out.

COBRA'S CORNER
"We have an exciting weekend ahead as we will get to compete against some strong teams and see a few of our conference opponents," said head coach Mariana Cobra. "As at any fall tournament, we want to get better every day and represent UNF as well as we can. We ha da good start to our fall season at South Carolina and we want to continue to work towards our goal."

QUICK HITS
- In the 2015 Cup, Luise Intert made it to the semifinals of the B main draw singles where she was topped by FIU's Nerma Caluk.
- In the North Singles Consolation round, Quetzali Vazquez and MIchelle Valdez each picked up a victory against FIU.
- Vazquez along with former UNF player Noemi Hemmerich captured the Consolation Finals in A Doubles with a victory against a pair from FAU.
- Pairing up in doubles was Intert and Valdez who made it to the semifinals of the A Doubles, but ultimately dropped a 6-4 decision.

USF INFO
Matches will take place from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Finals and consolation finals in both singles and doubles will take place on Sunday. Times of the Sunday matches are to be determined. Parking and admission is free.
