Men’s Soccer Wraps Non-Conference Play Saturday at Ga. Southern

STATESBORO, Ga. – Fresh off a 2-1 road victory against UCF on Wednesday night, the Ospreys will travel north to take on Georgia Southern (3-4-1) on Saturday night. The match concludes a four-game road stint for North Florida (4-2-1) and is the final non-conference game of the regular season.

Game Notes
Two Minutes, Two Goals: The North Florida offense delivered two quick goals just 2:02 apart to defeat in-state foe UCF, 2-1 on Wednesday night. Senior Simen Solstad scored the game's first goal on a header off an Osprey corner and then two minutes later assisted on the eventual game-deciding score. Freshman Cormac Begley recorded his first collegiate goal when he curled a shot from outside the 18 into the upper right 90. The win was the fourth-consecutive against the Knights and the third-straight in Orlando.
Climbing the Ranks: Solstad scored his 10th goal of his career, tying him for fifth on the program's D-1 era (2005-present) career goals list. He trails current teammate Milan Kovacs who has 11 in three seasons with the Ospreys. Both Kovacs (6th – 25) and Solstad (5th- 27) are among the top 10 point-getters since 2005.
Top-10: Senior captain Jay Bolt moved into the top-10 in career games played on Wednesday. He has played 54 games, the 10th most in the school's D-1 era. Of those 54 games he's made 49 stats, the sixth most in the D-1 era.
Newcomer Impact: Begley is the latest of the Osprey newcomers to make an impact on the Osprey attack. Freshman Adrian Nunez, junior-transfer Micah Smoak and Begley are responsible for five goals and four assists already in 2016.
Vying for Position: The Ospreys are among four teams with winning records of in the Atlantic Sun. Both Lipscomb and FGCU go into the weekend with five wins while NJIT and North Florida have four.
ASUN Leader: Despite allowing a second half goal on Wednesday, goalkeeper Juanes Fajardo leads the ASUN with a 0.75 goals against average. He's allowed just three goals this season in 360 minutes.
All-time Series: Matches between Georgia Southern and North Florida have traditionally been very close. The all-time series is deadlocked a 4-4-1 but the Ospreys have won the last two meetings including a 2-1 decision at Hodges Stadium last season. Not including the tie in the first meeting back in 2005, all but one game has been decided by one goal.

About Georgia Southern: The Eagles have ran through a gauntlet of tough opponents this season including Tuesday night's 2-1 loss at Duke. The Blue Devils clinched the victory with a goal in the 89th minute. A week earlier, Georgia Southern took South Carolina to overtime but fell 2-1. So far the Eagles are 1-1 against ASUN opponents this season after a 2-1 win over Stetson and a 3-0 loss at Jacksonville. The young Georgia Southern roster is led by junior forward Blake Wilson who has six goals on 21 shots this season. Goalkeepers Chase Herzog and Trogeir Fjaer have split time in net, both sporting a goals against averages below 1.50.
