BATON ROUGE, La. -- The North Florida women's golf team will make their NCAA Tournament debut Thursday morning in the Baton Rouge Regional hosted by LSU at the University Club.
The Ospreys, in just the program's fourth year of existence, captured the Atlantic Sun Conference title to earn their inaugural invitation to postseason play. UNF will tee off on Hole 10 of the par 72, 6,285-yard layout beginning at 9:09 a.m. (CT).
"We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to play at the University Club in our NCAA Tournament debut," said head coach Joanne Berglund. "We know it will be an incredible chance to compete against many of the best teams in the country. It is great to see the girls have their dreams for the program coming true. They all worked hard and have shown great commitment and dedication to this goal. We look forward to getting on the course and representing our program and the Atlantic Sun to the best of our ability."
The lineup for the Ospreys will consist of three seniors and two juniors. All-Atlantic Sun first-team honoree Mary Dawson will be joined by second-team All-Conference selections Megan Wilshire and Emelie Alpe along with Kelly Aylwin and Nathalie Nygren.
The three-day, 54-hole event is one of four regional competitions, considered as preliminary rounds for the NCAA Championship set for May 20-25 in Eugene, Ore. Six teams and three individuals not on a qualifying team will advance from each regional to the finals.
North Florida will be paired with Wichita State and Fairleigh Dickinson in opening round action. Live results for each of the regional rounds is available online at Golfstat.com.
