JACKSONVILLE -- North Florida track and field athletes Alyssa Young and Fynn Timm concluded their outdoor seasons Friday night with solid performances in the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary at Hodges Stadium.
Young, a sophomore for the Ospreys, posted an 18th place showing in the high jump following a personal best jump of 1.76m (5-09.25). The mark eclipsed her previous best of 1.74m set at the Seminole Invitational earlier this season.
A freshman standout for UNF, Timm closed his rookie campaign with a 9:23.48 in the 3,000m Steeplechase.
"This was a tremendous experience for both Alyssa and Fynn," said head coach Jeff Pigg. "It has been awesome to watch Alyssa's development this year and we are extremely proud of her and it was nice to see her finish with a PR. Coach Greg Krupa does and outstanding job working with our jumpers and he's really created a culture of success with that group. Fynn had an amazing freshman year and we're excited about what the future holds. He's had some tired legs the last month but he came out tonight and demonstrated what a true competitor he is. This is definitely something he can use to motivate him and help him continue to grow."
North Florida concludes it's appearances for the NCAA East Prelim on Saturday's final day of competition as sophomore high jumper Bobby Harris looks to earn an invitation to the NCAA Championship.

* Mississippi State's Brandon McBride set a Hodges Stadium facility record for the 800m with a time of 1:44.89
* Florida's Eric Futch set a new Hodges Stadium facility record for the 400m Hurdles with a time of 49.38
