MARANA, Ariz. -- The No.36-ranked North Florida men's golf team carded a final round 291 (+3) on Wednesday to finish tied for seventh in the NCAA Tucson Regional played at The Gallery Golf Club at Dove Mountain.
The Ospreys, who ended the 54-hole event with a tournament total of 867, narrowly missed advancing to the NCAA Championships as the top five team finishers qualified for the finals.Â

Sophomore Dillon Woods was the squad's top performer in the final round closing the event with an even-par 72. Senior Taylor Hancock along with freshmen Andrew Alligood and Travis Trace each posted final rounds of 73 (+1). Freshman Philip Knowles capped the lineup with a round of 74 (+2).
Alligood paced the team earning a tie for 17th at even-par 216 followed by Woods in 25th (218). Hancock and Trace tied for 26th at 219 and Knowles ended the event tied for 50th (225).

"This was not the finish to the year we were looking for," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "The guys competed extremely hard but unfortunately we just didn't play well the last six holes. That's the pressure that playing in Regionals creates so hopefully we will learn from it and be better down the road."
No.1-ranked and top-seeded Stanford claimed the regional team title posting a three-round 833. No. 24 Oregon finished second at 847 with No. 37 UAB (857), No. 13 California (862) and No. 12 Wake Forest (863) rounding out the list of NCAA Championship qualifiers.
Stanford's Franklin Huang earned the individual medalist crown with a score of 12-under 204, while UC Riverside's Matt Lutz finished third and earned the individual qualifying invitation to the NCAA Championships.
North Florida concluded another successful season that saw the squad post 10 Top 10 finishes and participated in the program's seventh consecutive NCAA Regional.
