"It was a great team effort by our men's squad to earn a second-place finish," said head coach Jeff Pigg. "Nick looked really strong in his races and appears ready for the NCAA Regional. Bobby continues to jump extremely well for us and I was excited for Desmond to win the 400m. I thought the guys we sent out in the 800m, 1500m and 5000m all did great jobs and ran the races we expected from them."
Robb picked up a second medal on Saturday night finishing third in the 200m, while Maurice Sapp scored points with a fifth-place finish in the 400m and Kyle Crompton was fifth in the 400m hurdles. In addition, Robb and Sapp led the 4x400m relay team, which also included Sumagpang and Cristian Acuna, to a silver medal finish.
"I was proud of the effort from our team," Pigg added. "I also want to be sure to thank the Atlantic Sun for allowing us to host the championships because it is something we look forward to and take pride in hosting. I thought our entire Athletic Department staff along with the group of officials and volunteers put on another outstanding event."
A trio of North Florida men's track and field athletes are expected to qualify for the upcoming NCAA East Preliminary on May 26-28 at Hodges Stadium. Those with current qualifying marks/times include: Nick Morken (1500m), Fynn Timm (3000m Steeplechase) and Bobby Harris (High Jump).
