JACKSONVILLE -- North Florida track and field sophomore Nick Morken wrapped up his impressive season Thursday evening, running a time of 3:49.56 in the 1500m event of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary at UNF's Hodges Stadium.
Morken finished seventh in his heat and 36th overall for the event. This marked his second consecutive appearance at the East Preliminary in the 1500m.
"Nick had a really solid season," said head coach Jeff Pigg. "He ran a good race but didn't have the finish he hoped for. Tonight's race was a great opportunity for him to grow, develop and learn a few things about running a tactical race. This was definitely another good racing experience for him."
The NCAA East Preliminary, the opening round of the NCAA Championships, continues at Hodges Stadium on Friday and Saturday.
PRELIM NOTES:
*Akron's Clayton Murphy set a new Hodges Stadium record in the 1500m with a time of 3:42.82
