@OspreySB Takes A-Sun Series over Kennesaw State with 3-2 Victory

KENNESAW, Ga. – The North Florida Softball team defeated Kennesaw State 3-2 to take the series Sunday at Bailey Park in Kennesaw, Ga.

The Ospreys (14-19, 3-3 A-Sun) now sit in a tie for fourth in the conference standings, while the Owls (21-15, 5-4 A-Sun) move to second place in the conference.

The Ospreys jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when senior Katie Mandigo belted a solo home run to left field, her second of the season.
Â
North Florida doubled their lead to 2-0, when junior Ashia Kerr singled home sophomore Ashley Niesman.
Â
Kennesaw State cut the lead to 2-1 on a RBI single in the bottom of the third.
Â
The Ospreys pushed the lead to 3-1 in the top of the seventh, when freshman Navia Penrod scored on a Kennesaw throwing error.

The Owls were able to cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh with a RBI groundout, but the Ospreys' defense was able to hold on for the win and take the rubber match of the series.

Mandigo finished 2-for-4 for North Florida, while junior Logan Green earned the win in the circle for the Ospreys, throwing 4.1 innings.

North Florida travels to Tallahassee for a non-conference doubleheader against Florida A&M this Wednesday, before returning to the UNF Softball Complex next weekend against A-Sun foe Lipscomb.
