EMERSON, Ga. -Â North Florida beach volleyball bounced back on day two of the Atlantic Sun Championship with 4-1 wins against Jacksonville and Mercer to continue its trek for a championship on Saturday at the Lake Point Sporting Complex.
"I am proud of how our group responded today. We came out with a high level of focus and energy on both matches," said coach Steve Loeswick. "We are excited that we get to play tomorrow."
The Ospreys started their day with a postseason version of the River City Rumble where UNF walked away with the win. Carina Hoff and Brittany Pase grabbed a 21-14, 21-17 victory in the No. 5 position followed by a 21-19, 21-12 win from Ambre Desaulnay and Chaney Howard in the No. 4 spot.
Jessalyn Kinlaw and Megan Crawshaw paired up at the No. 1 court and downed Kelly Koop and Mayara Prestes, 21-17, 21-17 to clinch the match. It took an extra set at the No. 3 spot, but Courtney Miller and Katarina Raicevic got it done with a 21-19, 22-24, 15-13 victory to take down the Dolphins.
In the second match, UNF almost repeated its exact same match from earlier. Wins at all but the No. 2 courts including a three-set victory from the No. 3 pair. Hoff and Pase also battled back from a set down to win 21-13, 15-13. Raicevic and Miller went down in set one, but answered with a 21-12, 15-9 victory.
The Ospreys now prepare for a rematch with FGCU on Sunday at 11 a.m. The Eagles beat North Florida on the first day of the tournament and it was FGCU's first victory against UNF. If UNF wins, it will go on to face Stetson in the championship match at 3 p.m.
