Women's Track & Field Record Several Personal Bests at Seminole Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The North Florida women's track and field team saw 10 student-athletes post personal best performances on Friday's opening day of competition in the Seminole Invitational at Mike Long Track.

Middle and long distance races were the primary focus on day one of the Seminole Invitational. Vanessa Philbert led a group of nine UNF runners in the 800m finishing with a time of 2:11 to earn runner-up performance in the event. Tayler Johnson (2:13), Morgan Rodriguez (2:14) and Kaitlin King (2:15) all recorded personal bests en route to also finishing among the Top 10.

Grace Meyer posted a time of 18:08 in the 5,000m, topping her personal best time by over nine seconds, while Kelly Hensley (11:14) and Audrey Carpenter (11:22) both notched PRs in the 3,000m Steeplechase.

On the field, Alyssa Young and Alexandra Ellis both had solid performances in the high jump with Young collecting a personal best 1.74m (5-8.5) and Ellis narrowing missing her own personal best mark with a jump of 1.64m (5-4.5).

"We had some outstanding performances tonight at FSU," said head coach Jeff Pigg. "Grace Meyer had a big PR in the 5,000 and Vanessa Philbert paced a strong showing for our team in the 800. Tayler Johnson, Morgan Rodriguez and Kaitlin King all ran great races and got PRs. Alyssa Young had another great jump and Alexandra also did well in the high jump."

In other track action, UNF sophomore standout Eden Meyer competed Thursday night in the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays in Norwalk, Calif., finishing with a time of 36:39 in the Elite Invitational heat of the 10,000m.
