Strong Performances Lead Women's Track at Spikes Classic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The North Florida women's track and field team enjoyed a strong day of performances Friday in the opening day of the Embry-Riddle Spikes Classic.
Tianna Hearn's personal best 14.53 in the 100m hurdles and Alexandra Ellis' personal best 1.65m (5-05) in the high jump highlighted the solid set of showings.
Other noteworthy performances included second and fourth place finishes for Kelly Hensley (11:38) and Audrey Carpenter (11:55) in the 3,000m steeplchase along with five runners finishing in the Top 10 of the 1,500m led by Emily Stallings in third at 4:44. Megan Walker continued her consistent  efforts in the pole vault finishing third with a mark of 3.52m (11-06.5).
Sophomore standout Eden Meyer, who was competing at the Florida Relays, opened her outdoor season on Thursday night with a 10th-place finish in the 5,000m in a time of 17:08.87.
Competition at the Spikes Classic is scheduled to conclude with another full day of event championships on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
