WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The North Florida Track & Field teams head to the JDL Fast Track facility to compete in the Atlantic Sun Conference Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday.
The Ospreys return to the JDL facility after competing three weeks ago in the Camel City Invitational on Jan. 29. At last year's ASun Indoor Championships, UNF posted a program best second-place finish on the men's side while collecting a third-place showing in the women's competition.
Friday's schedule for Osprey athletes includes some distance races along with women's pole vault and high jump.
Senior Megan Walker is the defending indoor champion in the pole vault and hopes to repeat as she enters the meet with the season's highest record mark. The UNF women's distance medley relay group -- Emily Kerns, Vanessa Philbert, Morgan Rodriguez and Alexis Irwin -- will also look to earn a second straight event title. Sophomore Eden Meyer has been carefully training for the outdoor 3000m, but looks to be a strong finisher in both the 3000m and 5000m indoors. Alyssa Young and Alexandra Ellis provide the Ospreys with a one-two punch in the high jump with the duo entering the meet ranked second and third in the league, respectively.
On the men's side, freshman Logan Poteet, the ASun Cross Country Champion, and teammate Tyler Stahl will make their collegiate debuts in the 3000m alongside proven Osprey runners Brad Hort and Michael Damato, giving UNF a strong group of runners in the event. North Florida will also look to defend their event title in the distance medley relay featuring the team of Rayford James, Taylor Sumagpang, Cristian Acuna and Fynn Timm.
