Personal Records Highlight Day at Camel Invitational for @OspreyXCTF

Day 1 Results
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The North Florida Track & Field teams opened the 2016 indoor season with some solid performances on day one of the Camel Invitational hosted by Wake Forest at the JDL Fast Track facility.
"It was a huge meet for the team," said head coach Jeff Pigg. "I thought both teams competed well and are really coming together nicely. We are all on the same page and are focused on just working on getting better. Our next competition will be the conference championship meet at the end of the month."
Pole vaulter Shelton McLean posted a PR of 4.70m (15-05.00) en route to claiming the event title for the men's squad while high jumper Alyssa Young also matched her PR with a leap of 1.60m (5-03.00) to finish sixth for one of the top women's performances on the day.
On the men's side, freshman standout Logan Poteet got his indoor collegiate career started with a seventh place finish in the Mile with a time of 4:19.07. Cristian Acuna also posted a PR in the 800m running a time of 1:56.41. High jumper Bobby Harris continued his steady performances posting a mark of 1.96m (6-05.00) and sprinter Desmond Robb earned an eighth place showing in the 400m following a run of 50.13.
For the women, newcomer Alexandra Ellis also recorded a mark of 1.60m (5-03.00) in the high jump while Hallie Grimes ran a 59.06 in the 400m. Sophomore standout Eden Meyer got her indoor season started with a ninth-place finish in the 3000m with a time of 10:01.64. Megan Walker collected a fifth place finish after a mark of 3.50m (11-05.75) in the pole vault.
Alexis Irwin led a group of five runners in Mile finishing with a time of 5:16.71 while Emily Kerns (5:20.03), Kennadee Williams (5:22.33) and Audrey Carpenter (5:38.57) all made their indoor collegiate debuts for the Ospreys. In the 800m, Vanessa Philbert led the way in a time of 2:14.42, followed by Morgan Rodriguez in 2:18.11 and PRs from Tayler Johnson (2:19.94) and Harley Horsley (2:23.26).
Competition at the Camel Invitational concludes on Saturday.
