MACON, Ga. - North Florida's Michael Damato earned his second Atlantic Sun Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week honor of the year, announced Wednesday by the league office.
The junior from New York ran a personal record 8K time of 24:57.86 last Saturday at the Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. Damato's time was good for second place and helped to lead the Ospreys to a first-place team finish, defeating the South Region's third-ranked team and host squad Florida. Damato now has the fastest 8K time of the season in the A-Sun.
"Mike had another really solid race at Florida," said UNF head coach Jeff PIgg. "It is nice to see him racing well especially with the high level of training he is going through right now. He is a tough competitor and strong runner."
In addition, North Florida continues to rise in the rankings, now sitting at fourth in the latest USTFCCCA South Region listing.Â
Damato and North Florida return to action on October 3rd at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky.Â
