FORT MYERS, Fla. – The North Florida softball team rallied late but it was ultimately the Stetson Hatters who prevailed 5-4 in an elimination contest in the Atlantic Sun Championship Thursday in Fort Myers, Fla., ending the Ospreys' season.
The Ospreys close the year at 31-28 after going to the postseason since missing out on the tournament in 2014.
Stetson started off with a 2-0 lead after the top of the first with a two-run home run to right field.
The Ospreys responded right back with two runs in the bottom of the first. Junior

Alex Arciola followed up with a triple to center field, scoring Mandigo and tying the game at 2-2.
Stetson took a 3-2 lead in the top of the third from a sacrifice fly, the Hatters then stifled the Ospreys' lineup for the next two innings.

Stacy McClelland put the Ospreys back on top with a two-run blast over the right field fence. McClelland's home run not only gave North Florida the lead, but was her 13
th of the season, tying the single-season school record.
Stetson then tied up the game at 4-4 with back-to-back doubles. The Hatters then took a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh with a RBI double to the left center gap. Stetson hung on in the bottom half of the inning to win the game and eliminate the Ospreys with the final score of 5-4.
Notes: Kelly Wilson closed her season with 33 stolen bases, second in the single-season school record books and five off of the school record.
