FORT MYERS, Fla. – In a rematch of the regular season finale, North Florida (43-14) bested Kennesaw State, 14-0 in the opening game of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament. The top-seeded Ospreys recorded their fourth shutout of the season and move on in the double-elimination tournament.
Â
The Ospreys scored in each of their first four turns at the plate and jumped out to a 10-0 after four innings. North Florida flipped the normal script against Kennesaw State after the two teams have played six-straight one-run games dating back to last season. The 14-0 victory is the second largest win margin in Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament history.
Â
Not to be overshadowed by the dominant offensive effort, North Florida got the fourth quality start in five tries from Evan Incinelli. The senior pitched a complete game shutout, the first in postseason play in the program's history. He surrendered only four hits in nine innings, struck out two and walked only one batter. He did not allow a Kennesaw State runner to reach second base all afternoon. He improved to 6-3 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.71.
Â
Eight of the nine starters recorded a hit and a run in today's contest. Senior Ryan Roberson and junior Corbin Olmstead each put forth three-hit games. Olmstead belted his 13th home run of the bottom of the sixth. He finished the day, 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Roberson was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
Â
The Ospreys got to Kennesaw State starting pitcher and First Team All-Conference selection, Jordan Hillyer, early and often. The right-hander hit a batter and walked two in the first inning and gave up RBI singles to Olmstead and Roberson in the first inning. Hillyer threw 99 pitches last Thursday and pitched all eight innings for the Owls in a no-decision in the 2-1 regular season loss. He lasted just 2.1 innings into today's contest and was charged with five earned runs.
 Â
Kyle Brooks and Garrick Ferguson wreaked havoc on the base baths and combined for three stolen bases and four runs. Brooks swiped two bags and scored twice while Ferguson drove in three runs.
Â
The Ospreys are scheduled to play at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow and will play the loser of Jacksonville and Stetson. Tomorrow's game can be viewed live on ESPN3 and live audio will be available on 1010XL
