
@OspreyBSB Locks Down Bethune-Cookman for Fifth-Straight Win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida (24-11) got six shutout innings from its bullpen to help preserve a 3-2 victory over Bethune-Cookman (13-24) this evening at Harmon Stadium. The Ospreys are now winners of their last five games and complete the season sweep against the Wildcats for the first time since 2010.

Red-shirt sophomore Donnie Dewees provided the offense for the Ospreys with a three-run home run in the bottom of the second inning, which was all the North Florida bullpen needed. The combination of Matthew Naylor, Bryan Baker and Corbin Olmstead pitched six scoreless innings to lock up the 3-2 win.

Baker was the most effective pitcher, not allowing a single hit and struck out three for his third victory of the season. He walked the first batter he faced then sat down the next nine in order. He struck out the side in the top of the seventh and ups is strikeout total to 29 on the season.

Right-hander Corbin Olmstead pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn his fourth save of the year. He retired all three batters he faced and struck out Mijon Cummings to end the game. The junior now has 10 career saves which ranks him second amongst North Florida pitchers in the Division I era.

Dewees finished the night 2-for-4 with three RBIs and run scored. The home run was the 10th of the year which leads all Atlantic Sun hitters. He also matched his career-best hit streak of 11 games set earlier this season.

The Ospreys displayed why they are one of the best fielding teams in the country, turning four double plays in the first five innings. North Florida came into the game with the third highest fielding percentage (.982) in all of Division I baseball.

Senior Dan VanSickle made his first career start on the mound and left with the bases loaded in the third. Wildcat outfielder, Jordan Robinson ripped a two-run double down the left field line on reliever Matthew Naylor's first pitch. Naylor went on to get the final out of the frame and three two more innings of scoreless middle relief. He leads the Ospreys with 18 appearances in 2015.

The Ospreys will begin a four-game road trip tomorrow when they travel to Tallahassee to take on Florida A&M. They will continue on to Nashville, Tenn. for a three-game Atlantic Sun series against Lipscomb beginning Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
