#SandVB Opens Atlantic Sun Play With Road Doubleheader

MACON, Ga. -- The three-time Atlantic Sun Conference champion North Florida sand volleyball team begins conference play with a pair of dual matches against Mercer and Florida Gulf Coast beginning Friday in Macon, Ga.

The Ospreys (5-5) are coming off a week-long road trip through Louisiana during Spring Break. UNF opened the trek by earning a split in a pair of dual matches against New Orleans and UL-Monroe before posting a 2-2 record at the Tiger Sand Invitational hosted by LSU last weekend.

North Florida claimed the A-Sun regular season crown last year after posting a 7-1 record in dual matches. UNF dropped a tough 3-2 decision to Stetson in the conference tournament championship match. In two seasons of conference regular season matches, the Ospreys own a 15-1 mark in dual matches. Additionally, UNF boasts a 10-1 record in Atlantic Sun tournament matches.

Seniors Cameron McGuire and Cari Whitmire headline the 2015 Osprey lineup with the duo playing as the squad's top tandem. McGuire and Whitmire own a 6-4 record in dual matches this season, sharing the team best mark with No. 2 pair Tessa Aylman and Jess Kinlaw. Seniors Tanner Garbutt and Julie Trembley own a 5-5 mark as the team's No. 3 pairing while Ambre Desaulnay and Kimberly Ferguson have tallied a 5-3 in the No. 4 position.

Friday's schedule has the Ospreys facing Mercer at 10 a.m. followed by a dual match against FGCU at Noon. The schedule flips on Saturday with North Florida meeting the Eagles at 10 a.m. before closing the road trip against the Bears at Noon.
