STATESBORO, Ga. -- Playing 36 holes on the final day of competition, the No. 26-ranked North Florida golf team posted rounds of 282 (-6) and 286 (-2) en route to collecting an eighth place finish in the Schenkel Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club.
The Ospreys finished with a three-round total of 854 and were led by the solid play of junior Taylor Hancock, who boasted a pair of rounds of 3-under 69 on Saturday. Hancock finished tied for 12th with a 54-hole total of 209 (-7).
Fellow junior Austin Padova joined him among the Top 20 finishers, earning a tie for 19th at 211 (-5) including rounds of 70-71 on the final day.
"This was certainly not one of our best weeks as a team," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "We did have a few guys play very solid during the event, but we also had some guys play not very well. We will take a small break from competition and hopefully regroup and get ready for the stretch run."
Redshirt freshman Dillon Woods carded rounds of 72-71 on Saturday to finish tied for 37th at 215, while seniors Parker Jones (71-75) and Joey Petronio (83-75) rounded out the Osprey lineup in ties for 54th (219) and 84th (231), respectively. In addition, sophomore Osten Waite competed as an individual and finished tied for 33rd at 214 (-2), after final day scores of 70-71.
No. 11 Auburn captured the team crown with a three-round tally of 823 (-41), just one shot in front of No. 6 Vanderbilt at 824. Tournament host No. 48 Georgia Southern was third at 844, with  Kentucky (846) and No. 22 Wake Forest (847) filling out the top five squads in a 15-team field that featured 11 teams ranked in the Top 50 nationally.
The Tiger's Daniel Stringfellow finished one stroke in front of the field at 12-under 204 to earn the individual medalist title.
North Florida will conclude their regular season schedule on Apr. 11-12 at the Irish Creek Collegiate in Kannapolis, N.C.
