
Three-Day Tiger Sand Invitational Up Next for #SandVB

BATON ROUGE, La. – A Spring Break trip for University of North Florida sand volleyball will conclude at the three-day Tiger Sand Invitational that is being hosted by LSU at Mango's Beach Volleyball Club. The Ospreys begin the tournament on Friday with matches against Spring Hill and LSU, face New Orleans and FIU on Saturday and then participate in Flighted Bracket Play on Sunday.

UNF enters the tournament with a 3-3 record and comes off a split with New Orleans and Louisiana-Monroe on Wednesday. The Ospreys collected their first sweep of the season with a 5-0 shutout of New Orleans, but was narrowly defeated 3-2 by ULM. The match with ULM marked the fourth time already this season in which the Ospreys' outcome was determined by one point.

Head coach Steve Loeswick and assistant coach Samantha Dabbs both have ties to LSU. Prior to coming to UNF, Loeswick was an assistant coach with LSU's indoor volleyball program. Dabbs concluded her indoor collegiate playing career at LSU, serving as the Tigers' setter her junior and senior seasons.

With this weekend's opposition, both Spring Hill and New Orleans are in the first season of their respective sand volleyball programs. Meanwhile, both FIU and LSU participated in last weekend's 2015 UNF Sand Volleyball Invitational Presented by BEACH 105.5 FM. FIU, who is No. 7 in the latest AVCA poll, went was the only team to go undefeated at last weekend's tournament, going a perfect 4-0. Meanwhile, LSU tallied a 1-3 mark, picking up its only win on Sunday against College of Charleston.
