Spring Season Tees Off For @OspreyMGolf At Sea Best Invitational

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Following a three-month break from competition, the No. 28-ranked North Florida men's golf team returns to tournament action Monday and Tuesday in the 7th Annual Sea Best Invitational hosted by Jacksonville University at TPC Sawgrass - Dye's Valley Course.
The Ospreys are coming off a successful fall campaign which saw the squad collect a pair of tournament titles, while posting Top 5 team finishes in four of five events. At last season's Sea Best, UNF tied Liberty for the team title with Austin Padova sharing the medalist crown.
The 15-team field features nine teams ranked in the Top 100 by Golfstat led by No. 3 Florida State along with North Carolina (#15), UNF, UNLV (#30), Winthrop (#31), Florida (#51), Texas A&M (#52), Tennessee (#74) and JU (#87). The rest of the field includes: Coastal Carolina, Jacksonville State, Liberty, McNeese State, Old Dominion and USC Upstate.
"We are looking forward to kicking off the spring season and finding out where our games are," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "There's been some time since we last compted and the guys are excited to get back out on the course in competition. It is nice to open the spring season near home as well as it allows us to get some supporters on the course."
Senior Joey Petronio, ranked No. 95 individually by Golfstat, leads the Osprey lineup for the Sea Best. Joining Petronio will be juniors Taylor Hancock and Austin Padova along with sophomore Osten Waite and redshirt freshman Dillon Woods. In addition, junior Joe Stepnes will compete as an individual.
Monday features 36 holes of play beginning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. North Florida will be paired with FSU and UNLV on holes 4-7. Live scoring for the event is available online at Golfstat.com.
